It is a relatively new technology that is proving to be less aggressive than traditional treatments. The results are also long-lasting, as the resurfacing stimulates the skin to generate new skin cells and subsurface collagen.

The Erbium YAG laser and Fraxel Laser

Compared with results from using the older CO2 laser, skin resurfacing with the Er:YAG laser offers many benefits :

Fraxel Laser

Fraxel treatment is a revolutionary laser treatment that helps you remove years from your appearance and regain a more youthful look.

Whether you have sun damage, wrinkles or other signs of age, Fraxel treatment delivers remarkable results with fast recovery. So you can quickly return to work or other activities with renewed skin-and renewed confidence.

The range of Fraxel treatments vary in aggressiveness, downtime, number of procedures needed and results. The most aggressive treatment, Fraxel re:pair, can produce dramatic improvement for severely damaged skin. This is a single treatment procedure, but will require more downtime and after treatment wound care. Less aggressive treatments, like Fraxel re:store or Fraxel re:fine, can produce significant results for mild to moderately damaged skin over the course of 3 to 6 treatments. Typically, there is no after treatment wound care with these treatments and downtime is minimal.

Chemical Peel

A chemical peel can make an individual look years younger by removing and softening age-related wrinkles and premature wrinkling caused by sun exposure. The Obagi Blue Peel is a medium depth peel that is ideally suited for younger patients with sun-damaged skin. The procedure evens the skin's texture by chemically removing the outer layers and encouraging the formation of new skin cells. It also helps to even skin tone and reduce hyperpigmentation.

Depending on the degree of wrinkling, a light, medium, or deep peel may be recommended. The effects of chemical peeling are particularly pleasing when combined with a facelift, rejuvenating the skin's surface and reducing the effects of sun exposure.

Microdermabrasion

Traditional dermabrasion is painful and requires a long healing process. It also includes a risk of infection and the possibility of unnatural-looking skin texture. Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive, relatively painless procedure used to minimize fine lines. In conjunction with a natural skin care program, microdermabrasion treatments can help diminish many skin imperfections such as sun or age spots and restore the glow and natural vitality of youthful skin.

Microdermabrasion is commonly referred to as "the lunchtime peel" because the procedure takes only minutes to perform and most people can return to work immediately. The procedure uses highly controlled vacuum pressure to move microscopic abrasive crystals over the surface of the skin. This action causes little or no discomfort while it gently removes the outer layer of the skin. By repeating this process over the course of several weeks or months, the younger, softer skin moves to the surface, resulting in significant improvements in texture and color.
