Facelift
A facelift, is a procedure designed to diminish signs of aging in the face and neck. It can correct a variety of unwanted flaws, including wrinkling caused by loose and sagging skin, jowls in the lower cheek area and skin folds in the neck. Forehead Lift
Many of our patients have forehead lifts performed to treat conditions associated with aging. A forehead lift is often performed in conjunction with a facelift to achieve a more harmonious and complete facial rejuvenation. A forehead lift is also appropriate for treatment of certain inherited traits. Younger adults who have a low brow or who already have deep frown lines due to stress or overactivity of muscles may benefit from the procedure.

A forehead lift can improve sagging or low position of the eyebrows, creating a tired or sad appearance, deep horizontal creases across the forehead frown lines, or furrows, between the eyebrows and sometimes across the top of the nose. Endoscopic Rejuvenation
An endoscopic facelift is the medical name for an improved plastic surgical technique that provides facial rejuvenation with minimal scars. Endoscopy is a type of surgical technique that may prevent the need for long incisions, which allows faster healing, and results in fewer side effects than traditional techniques.

Traditionally to perform a brow and facelift, the surgeon needed to make an incision from ear to ear on top of the head and incisions around the ear to the posterior neck. Endoscopic technique allows for minimal scars. Using a slender wand like tube with a microscopic camera attached, Dr. Hartog can lift and tuck various areas of the face through just a few very small incisions along the hairline, on the back of the ear and under the chin. This technique not only requires less time for recovery; it results in a more natural individualized look without the telltale signs of standard facelift procedures.

Temporal Brow And Midface Lifts
Look in the mirror; if you're 35 to 45 years old, chances are you will notice some drooping of your brow and cheeks, and an increase in the skin fold on each side of your nose. Now place your hands on the skin on the sides of your face in the area of the temples and cheeks, and gently pull the skin up and back a little. Notice how this opens up your eyes, increases the prominence of your cheekbones, flattens the folds on the sides of your nose, and just takes 5 to 10 years off your age.

Well this is the type of effect you can achieve with a Temporal Brow and Midface Lift. This minimally invasive procedure is performed through short incisions behind the hairline, with or without an endoscope. Often it is performed in conjunction with other procedures such as upper eyelid skin removal (blepharoplasty), fat injection (lipostructure) to hollow areas and facial skin resurfacing with laser or chemical peel. The result is a refreshed, rested appearance without an 'operated' look.

Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)
The eyelids are often the first facial features to show signs of aging resulting in a sad, tired appearance in even the most energetic individual. Blepharoplasty can return youthful elegance to an individual's face, making the eyes appear brighter and more refreshed. Browpexy is another procedure used to lift the brow without surgery. Some individuals experience an accumulation of fat in the lower eyelids creating persistent "bags" under the eyes. These "bags", however, are not always related to aging. This tendency may be inherited and may appear in early life before the aging process becomes noticeable. Other individuals may notice the skin of the upper eyelids may become lax and impart a hooded appearance to the upper eyelids and, in severe instances, even obscure vision.

Necklift
In some patients Dr. Hartog can perform an isolated "necklift". The necklift can be thought of as "the part of the facelift which happens behind the ear and down into the neck". This procedure tightens the "turkey gobbler" in the midline of the neck, then tightens the neck skin upward behind the ears. The necklift can be a good alternative for creating a less lax neck and less draping in someone who has no sagging of the cheeks or jawline.

Laser, Chemical And Microdermabrasion Skin Resurfacing
Skin Age And Sun Damage Reversal Laser Skin Resurfacing.
Laser resurfacing offers individuals dramatically softer, healthier-looking skin by smoothing wrinkles, scars and other blemishes. It is a relatively new technology that is proving to be less abrasive to the skin than traditional treatments. Remarkably, the results of laser resurfacing are immediate, especially when used to remove fine to moderate wrinkles.

Chemical Peel.
A chemical peel can make an individual look years younger by removing and softening age-related wrinkles and premature wrinkling caused by sun exposure. The Obagi Blue Chemical Peel is a medium depth peel that is ideally suited for younger patients with sun damaged skin. The procedure evens the skin's texture by chemically removing the outer layers and encouraging the formation of new skin cells.

Depending on the degree of wrinkling, a light, medium or deep peel may be recommended. The effects of chemical peeling are particularly pleasing when combined with a facelift, and is more economical than laser resurfacing.

Microdermabrasion and DermaPeel.
Traditional dermabrasion is painful and includes a long healing process, a risk of infection and the possibility of unnatural looking skin texture. Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive, painless procedure used to minimize fine lines. In conjunction with a natural, skin care program, microdermabrasion treatments can help diminish many skin imperfections and restore the glow and natural vitality of youthful skin.

DermaPeel is a revolutionary new skin restoration process, commonly referred to as "the lunchtime peel" because the procedure takes only minutes to perform and most people can return to work immediately. Used at exclusive European spas for over ten years, this unique skin rejuvenation technique has recently received clearance from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States. Fat Injection. (Lipostructure).

LipostructureTM - Restoring The Fullness Of Youth
Recently featured in USA Today, restoring the structure of youth with fat grafting is now a reality. If you look at a young face, it's round and full, not angular and hollow. As we age, our faces become smaller; almost like a balloon deflating, and as it deflates the skin wrinkles and sags.

To see how this has occurred in your face, look at photographs from 5, 10, 15 and 20 years ago. Using your own fat many of these signs of aging can be reversed. The technique of LipostructureTM gently harvests your own fat in a similar way to regular liposuction. The fat can then be reinjected where needed through small specially designed needles, into the lips, nasolabial folds, chin, and around the eye and temple areas. Other defects in other parts of the body, including liposuction problems, also can be improved with this technique.

The procedure can be done in one sitting, or the fat can be frozen and reinjected in smaller amounts every few weeks. This is a very safe procedure, and can often be done under local anesthetic alone. This technique can also be used to correct a variety of contour deformities, including contour irregularities of the legs, arms, face and chest.

Nose reshaping - Rhinoplasty
Anyone who is self-conscious about his or her nose will find rhinoplasty offers a newfound aura of confidence. The procedure can significantly enhance an individual's facial appearance by creating a more graceful nose and an enhanced profile. Dr. Hartog customizes the rhinoplasty to uniquely complement each individual's face whether the goal is to remove a bump, taper a tip, or in some cases, build up nasal depressions. Often, a rhinoplasty is performed in conjunction with a chin augmentation to obtain optimal aesthetic balance and a balanced profile with the help of computer imaging.

"I had interviewed several other surgeons, all of which wanted to break my facial bones in order to complete my rhinoplasty. Chin Augmentation
The chin plays an important role in the overall shape and harmony of the face. Some individuals are born with small chins; some have improper alignment of the jaw causing what appears to be a small chin, while still others have a chin that recedes with time along with the natural aging process. In many instances, Dr. Hartog suggests chin augmentation, in combination with rhinoplasty or a face-lift to create more balance between the nose and chin, or to create a more defined chin-jawline, i.e. a weak chin can exaggerate a double chin or long nose.

Facial Liposuction
Small areas of fat around the face can be difficult to lose without the help of liposuction. The fat is removed by using a very small suction cannula. The incisions are placed in hidden locations such as inside the nose, the corner of the mouth and under the chin. In some patients fullness of the chin or the nasolabial fold may not be due to fat alone. In these cases it cannot be corrected by liposuction alone.

BOTOX® Cosmetic And Muscle Resection
Are you tired of those frown lines between your eyes, and those crowsfeet every time you smile? Do you have a worried look all the time? A simple, non-surgical solution is BOTOX® Cosmetic.

Minute amounts of BOTOX® Cosmetic are injected into the muscles causing these unwanted frown lines, crowsfeet, and even neck muscles disappear within a few days. An added benefit of BOTOX® Cosmetic injected in the crowsfeet areas, is a noticeable elevation of the outer brow, resulting in a 'chemical browlift'.

BOTOX® Cosmetic was originally developed to treat severe muscle spasms around the eyes and other nerve or muscle disorders. The substance is purified Botulinum Toxin, and despite sounding ominous, is remarkably safe in the doses used for wrinkle treatment. Side effects are rare, and are limited to mild headaches occasionally just after the treatment, and very occasionally, involvement of the eyelid, resulting in a temporary slight eyelid droop.

Unfortunately the effect on the wrinkles is temporary, lasting from 4 to 6 months at a time. Notwithstanding the temporary nature of the effect, the treatment can be repeated, with no known ill effects.
