Enhanced Fat Grafting for Facial Rejuvenation and Breast Augmentation

he Bougainvillea Clinique offers enhanced fat grafting procedures for cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

A key component in our fat grafting protocol at the Bougainvillea Clinique is to use the Body-Jet® (similar to Aqualipo®) and CytoriPureGraft® systems to harvest and prepare the fat graft. This process has been shown to be the gentlest method of harvesting and separating injectable fat, something that is critical to the survival of fat grafts. Studies have shown that the fat graft obtained using the PureGraft® approach produces a high percentage of pure living fat without unwanted additions like blood or water, which are simply absorbed by the body and do not contribute to the survival of the graft. Other side-effects such as excessive swelling are also minimized.

Fat grafting as a natural filler can then be used in a number of ways, to improve facial volume and injected under the skin to improve skin quality and wrinkles such as crow's feet. Other cosmetic uses are breast augmentation, treatment of acne scars, and improvement of the appearance of the aging hand.

Our enhanced fat grafting techniques can also be used for breast reconstruction after breast cancer, and for treatment of problem wounds such as after radiation treatment for cancer.

It is also now possible to freeze your own fat and store it to be used in the future for cosmetic, reconstructive and other potential medical uses. Fat has been shown to be one of the richest sources of adult stem and regenerative cells, otherwise known as Adipose Derived Regenerative Cells (ADRC’s).

ADRC treatments are now being studied for many other medical conditions that require restoration of damaged tissue, such as after heart attacks, kidney injury, bone and nerve injuries.

Although traditional fat grafting obviously includes stem cells naturally found in the grafted fat, at the Bougainvillea Clinique we are also able to process fat to separate ADRC’s and to add these back to the fat graft to create an ADRC enriched fat graft. Adding this concentrated mixture of the stem cells or ADRC's to the fat has been shown to improve the quality and survival of the fat graft in animals by up to 50%. Studies have also shown the benefit of these cells and enriched fat grafts in breast reconstruction in radiation compromised tissues. ADRC's can also be used by alone and with facial fillers such as Juvederm® to improve the quality of issues, without adding any volume of fat to the area if this is not desired.
